As of July 1st, 2026, all high school students must successfully complete the Civics Test, per code SF369, to earn a high school diploma. This assessment is required by Iowa law for graduation from every public high school in the state.
Here are a few important things to know:
1.) Students must earn 60% or higher to meet the graduation requirement.
2.) The assessment is not timed, allowing students to work carefully through each question.
3.) Students who do not pass on their first attempt may retake the assessment as many times as needed.
4.) Ridge View High School will provide multiple testing opportunities throughout the school year to ensure every student has the opportunity to meet this graduation requirement.
5.) Seniors will need to complete the test prior to graduation in May, 2027. Juniors have 2 years to complete the test. Sophomores have 3 years to complete the test. Freshmen have 4 years to complete the test.

Students will take the test with either Mr. Tokheim or Mrs. Bisenius.
